 The sun had gone down, and Tom and Huck were lying around in the sand on the shore of Jackson’s Island.  Joe’s drawn out boasting of his new toleration to pipe smoke must have worn him out, for he was asleep at the fire, in his Indian wear and all.       
 Huck sat up, picked up a stick, and started breaking it into pieces.  “Tom?”

I've been thoroughly enjoying your poetry. The stark imagery and juxtaposed metaphorical pieces are, at times, reminiscent of the neo-expulsionist writings of Edgar Wilson "Bill" Nye. (Say "Bill Nye" to kids today and the only image they can conjure is of a PBS television host, but I've no doubt someone with your keen insight is intimately familiar with the works of that famed nineteenth century humorist.) Keep up the good work. If you get the chance, take a look at some of my forays into creativity. I'm always on the lookout for input from a fellow intellectual!

Im adding your "Cut" piece to my Favs...because I think of it as a shortie poem with great imagery. Personally my type of poems!
